The purpose of this book
The intention of this book is different to that of most yoga books.
1) Traditionally, most yoga books are aimed at the yoga purists,
trying to remain pure to the original teachings, and include
explanations about asanas (Yoga body postures).
The intention of this book is to identify the needs of the reader right
now, and to give assistance in a direct and succinct manner. Some
people within the Yoga community might feel that I should place a
higher emphasis on the spiritual path of yoga, but as the Native
American Indians would say, people are physical and spiritual beings.
The five points of Yoga
Swami Vishnu-devananda described yoga as having five areas that should
be followed in a yogic lifestyle. These are:
1. Proper exercise
2. Proper Breathing
3. Proper Relaxation
4. Proper Diet
5. Positive Thinking and Meditation
It is clear to see how these five points can be beneficial to your
lifestyle:
· The ability to relax, and also being able to take the time to
relax is valuable.
